I found some lovely yarn at Joann Fabric the other day when I was stocking up on yarn for a blanket I was commissioned to make. Lately, I've been searching the big box yarn stores for nice fingering-weight yarn, which I can rarely find.
This yarn is actually called Serenity Sock Weight by Premier Yarns. They have several sock colorways, but I was specifically looking for solids, because the baby cardigan pattern does not really do well with colorways. This yarn is 50% merino wool, 25% bamboo, and 25% nylon. It's not as soft as the yarn in the previous post, but it still very, very soft.
This cardigan, again from the same pattern I used before, uses my stitch counts for a newborn-sized cardigan. Depending on the weight of yarn you use, it comes out between newborn and 3-6 months. Not all similarly-labeled yarn weights are the same.
