New Pattern: "Mathilde"

I've been wanting to release some free patterns for a while now, and finally got around to designing one of them. This one is named "Mathilde." Recently I came across a wonderful memoir by Genevieve Jurgensen called The Disappearance: A Primer of Loss and have fallen deeply in love with it. It's written in the form of letters she wrote to a friend ten years after the deaths of her two daughters from a drunk-driving accident in 1980--their names were Mathilde and Elise. It's so wonderfully well-written, honest, and cathartic. Her story--their stories--have left such an indelible impression on my spirit.

  • Join all rounds with a SLST to the first stitch of the round, unless otherwise indicated.

  • If a round begins with a "CSDC" you may choose to work a CH 2 instead.

  • I recommend crocheting over your starting thread as you work round 2.

  • Pattern repeats are marked with an asterisk (*).
